Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council has several home improvement grant schemes for older people and people with disabilities. These grants are means tested. Housing adaptation grant for people with disabilities: This grant can help you to make changes and adaptations to your home, for example to make it wheelchair accessible add a ground floor bathroom or toilet. If you are buying or building a new home, you may qualify for this grant, but at a lower rate.
Mobility Aids Grant Scheme: This scheme gives grants for minor improvements or adaptations to help with mobility problems in the home, for example to put in grabrails, stairlifts, level access shower. It is mainly for older people but people with disabilities can also access it.
Housing Aid for Older People: This grant aims to improve living conditions of older people by carrying out minor repairs – rewiring, roof repairs, provision of heating (where none exists).
